Sponsor Spotlight: Mallor Grodner LLP

For years, one of the best parties associated with the Lotus World Music & Arts Festival was hosted by lawyers and community patrons Andy Mallor and Geoffrey Grodner. Kicking off the Festival “was fun, and a great way to thank our clients, many of whom were already Lotus supporters and patrons,” reminisces Grodner. Leaving that celebration, guests would then travel downtown to enjoy spectacular performances in the Mallor Clendening Grodner & Bohrer performance tent, a landmark in the ephemeral city of Lotus that rises each year in Bloomington. {Pictured above: Mexico City’s Los de Abajo rock the MCGB Tent at the 2009 festival.}

In 2010, the law firm reorganized, focusing on its core practice of providing personalized representation for professionals, individuals, and small- and medium-sized businesses. Relaunched as Mallor Grodner LLP, the partnership retains its commitment to supporting the arts in Bloomington and Monroe County.

Mallor and Grodner are designated as two of Indiana’s “Super Lawyers” — the top 5% of lawyers in the state with a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Andy Mallor has also been honored as one of the top 50 lawyers in the state.

“Lotus, both the festival and the organization, is important to the arts fabric of our community. It’s one of the things that makes Bloomington so attractive and vibrant for its size,” Geoff Grodner declares. “Andy and I have a longstanding commitment to supporting the arts and area non-profits, because we enjoy them and because their quality truly makes our community unique.”

Mavis Staples kicks off the Festival on September 22 in a concert sponsored by Mallor Grodner LLP.

He goes on to say that “good mutual relationships” are central to this commitment. In addition to their sponsorship of Lotus, the firm has been a significant player locally in the support of the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, Cardinal Stage Company, United Way, the Boys & Girls Club, Ivy Tech, Shalom Center, and numerous other organizations. And as Mallor Grodner LLP extends its practice into Indianapolis, “We are looking at how to contribute most effectively in that market,” says Grodner. “It’s an exciting arts community, but its size makes it more difficult for us to make an impact.”

Meanwhile, Mallor Grodner LLP lives its brand — “Understanding. Expertise. Results.” — and Grodner anticipates applying the same focus to maintaining their status as one of Bloomington’s premier cultural patrons.

 This year, Mallor Grodner LLP are proud to present Mavis Staples in the Lotus opening concert on Thursday, September 22.
