Where the Arts BLOOM

The Lotus Education & Arts Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization based in Bloomington, Indiana (est. 1994). Our mission is to create opportunities to experience, celebrate, and explore the diversity of the world’s cultures, through music and the arts.

We engage South Central Indiana communities in perspective-changing music and arts programming by artists from around the globe. Lotus is committed to reaching underserved populations and does so with the generous support of donors, sponsors, grantors, and volunteers.

Our exceptional programming takes place year-round. Every spring we host Lotus Blossoms, four weeks of multicultural workshops, and performances by artists from around the globe. In the fall we produce the Lotus World Music & Arts Festival, a five to six day event that brings over 12,000 people to Bloomington, IN annually. After the Festival we celebrate the ways many cultures use lanterns and light for winter celebrations with the Lotus Lantern Project.

Finally, we brighten up the dark winter months with our Lotus Winter Concert Series featuring exceptional, international artists. Additionally, Lotus partners with other organizations that share our vision for a world that values diversity to produce workshops, concerts, and many other creative opportunities.
