Cranky making with Lotus Education and Arts Foundation
Winter is the perfect time to share or listen to stories. Come make puppets, storybooks, and other crafts that tell a story. Special guests from the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation will teach cranky making (storytelling scrolls) and the Bloomington Storytellers Guild will share some winter themed stories.
Storytellers Lineup:
David Matlack, DVM: “Grandfather Rock”, a Native American story (Seneca people). Bio: IUB School of Medicine faculty, veterinarian, and a professional storyteller. Matlack performs at festivals across the country. In 2016, he won a blue ribbon at the 2016 Indiana State Fair Liar’s Contest.
Ginny Richey: “Strawberries in Winter” originates from various regions in Russia. Bio: Richey retired from the Monroe County Public Library after three decades of entertaining children while promoting literacy through storytelling. A founding member of the Bloomington Storytellers Guild, she enjoys sharing both traditional and original tales to audiences of all ages.
Patty Callison: “Brer Rabbit’s Christmas” a traditional American tale. Bio: Patty Callison is a retired children’s librarian from the Monroe County Public Library. With an undergraduate degree in speech and drama, storytelling is a beloved outlet for this passionate fan of children’s books and stories – both of which Callison prefers sharing with a dramatic flair.
