Stay up-to-date with the latest on Lotus’s new facility! In late 2015, Lotus acquired a permanent home at 105 S. Rogers St. (an old firehouse built in 1955). Fundraising and renovations will be ongoing, in support of transforming this building into an exciting new multicultural arts venue for Bloomington. At this time, there is no firm date for a grand opening, but we’ll be sure to keep everyone posted.
The Latest Firehouse Renovations
Thanks to Loren Wood Builders’ hard work, the Firehouse Transformation renovations are truly beautifying our entire building from the inside-out. We can’t stop wowing over our beautiful new front sliding doors, which replaced the garage doors of the firehouse. A big shoutout to Pella for working with Loren Wood Builders to add one of […]
Public Art Opportunity: Donor Recognition Banners RFQ
We are seeking artists to design, coordinate, and manage a project involving Donor Recognition Banners. We encourage artists and designers to submit qualifications to be considered as a vendor for a permanent hanging banner installation to recognize our major donors in our new multi-use community venue. The colorful banners […]
Loren Wood Builders has been busy!
All of the demolition is complete, and…drumroll…we have heat! The HVAC is in and furnaces are fired up! We still need to add vents when bulkheads are complete.
Because of our generous donors and the hard work of Loren Wood Builders’ crew, we have a new hot water heater and for the […]
Thanks to the generosity of over 130 donors, Lotus is able to begin renovations! At five months in, we are over 2/3 of the way there in meeting our financial goal. Thank you to all who have contributed to transform the firehouse. You or your business can still take part and make a gift today […]
We did it!
The Lotus Education & Arts Foundation successfully completed a major hurdle in securing funds to support the Global Arts Center capital campaign. By raising $50,000 via crowdfunding, Lotus will receive a matching $50,000 grant sponsored by the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority’s CreatINg Places program.
The crowdfunding match campaign began September 12 and […]
After one year of energetically weaving stars out of gift tie ribbon, old maps, junk mail, gift wrap, old Lotus posters, newspapers and repurposed cloth, Lotus surpassed its goal of 10,000 stars to the One Million Stars to End Violence project. Lotus worked with more than 70 community partners and 4,000 participants at community events […]
We’ve moved! After more than a decade of renting off-the-radar office space on the downtown square, Lotus has embraced “home ownership” — and curb appeal — in our new building at 105 S. Rogers. Lots still to do, but we’re busy getting settled in our upstairs admin area…and enjoying lots of natural light as well as waistline-threatening proximity to Rainbow Bakery […]
We’re always blown away by the breadth of skills…and depth of generosity…among our amazing Lotus volunteer corps! Even before the ink was dry on the agreement for the building, Susan Fernandes had already offered her talents to help our staff with space-planning for the new second-floor office spaces. Thank you, Susan!
Susan has been a big […]
Even in these very early stages of planning for the new facility, our local business community is already stepping up to help. Lotus is grateful for the donated or at-cost goods and services provided by these incredible folks — thank you all for being leaders in making your community a better place! Business supporters so […]
