Meet Katie Vernon – 2014 Lotus Volunteer T-shirt Designer

This year’s signature art for our Lotus volunteer T-shirt comes from illustrator Katie Vernon. “My inspiration came from my work as a florist and a landscaper, and my delight in the amazingness of nature.”

BeesKatie’s design is also a perfect expression of the Lotus esprit de corps. Volunteer Coordinator Tamara Loewenthal says, “Every year, for the Festival and for other Lotus events in need of willing hands to help, our volunteers step up and take on every task. During the Festival, especially, when we have more than 500 people filling shifts, we are a hive of activity. Katie captured the essence of our Lotus volunteer ‘worker bee’ spirit.”

Katie (pictured at right) called Bloomington home for nearly a decade. She’s worked with Ikea, Land of Nod, and Chronicle Books; she and her work have been featured on HGTV, Design*Sponge, and OhJoy! To see more of her work, visit her site.
