Festival Artist Sneak Peek #3: Hawktail

As soon as the trio Haas Kowert Tice announced that they had expanded into a quartet and were calling themselves Hawktail, we asked if they were available for Lotus. Now they’ve released a debut album, and, just last weekend, appeared on Chris Thile’s national live radio program Live from Here (where the individual players were already regulars in the house band).

The list of other projects that these musicians have been, and continue to be, involved with during their young careers is impressive: Punch Brothers, Dave Rawlings Machine, Crooked Still, The Deadly Gentlemen, Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings to name just a few.

The title track from their album is a rare, genuine Swedish polska written by Americans, which underscores the band’s love for long-time Lotus favorites Väsen. Like that venerable trio, this quartet is an acoustic ensemble playing at its finest.  Further explore this artist by visiting the Hawktail artist page.

Until next week!
