Lotus Art-Making Workshop at Switchyard Studios

Participants will make art for the 22nd Lotus World Music & Art Festival creating Pahiyas Festa House decorations, a Filipino cultural tradition. Pahiyas, a harvest celebration, dates back to the 16th century and involves elaborate, food-based decorations. Participants will learn more about this colorful tradition and will use high-pigment markers to color plastic materials from recycled milk jugs, inspired by Pahiyas practices. In addition, regional food inspirations will be included to bridge local and global cultural connections. All materials made during this workshop will be part of larger displays in the FREE Festival Arts Village on September 25-26.
