Puuluup
If filmmaker Wes Anderson created an Estonian folk duo, it would be Puulupp, who identify their music as “neo-zombie-post-folk” and use the talharpa (Northern European 4-stringed lyre) and electronics (including effects and loops) to create a unique sonic experience. The slightly surreal approach that Ramo Teder and Marko Veisson take to their interpretation of tradition and folklore is unforgettable: witty and funny, folky, modern, and even danceable. They became an instant audience favorite when they make their debut at Lotus in 2022; they represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024. “… exciting and versatile, funky, groovy, and yet traditional and somewhat ancient sounds” (folkworld.de).
