Pahua

Pahua is Paulina Sotomayor, a Mexican percussionist, singer, composer, and DJ whose career spans the traditional popular music of her country, to trends in global Latin rhythms fused with electronic music. For 12 years, beginning when she was 7, she sang with Mariachi Charanda, a traditional group for which she performed popular songs in Nahuatl and Purépecha.  In 2011 she founded the band Jefes del Desierto, of which she was the singer and drummer, and in 2014 she created the electro-Latin project called Sotomayor. Her solo project, Pahua, began in the pandemic in 2020, a mix of electronic music with Latin rhythms, empowering lyrics, and a message of positivity and self-love.
