The new home of the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation

WHERE AS: On April 6, 1955, the City of Bloomington (“City”) acquired title to the property located at 105 S. Rogers Street from Upholsterers International Union of North America and the property served as a City firehouse for many years. The City sought proposals for adaptive reuse of the former firehouse as an arts facility, and the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation, Inc., (“Lotus”) submitted a proposal that exceeded the City’s goals for this new use of the property.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City of Bloomington Board of Public Works approves the sale of the property located at 105 S. Rogers Street to the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation, Inc., with the full understanding that this property is to be used as an arts facility for the benefit of the public.

On Tuesday, July 14, the Board of Public Works gathered to vote on the future of the property located at 105 S. Rogers Street in Bloomington. It was decided that this property will be the new home of the Lotus Education & Arts Foundation! It’s hard to put into words how greatly we look forward to this new chapter in the life of Lotus, and we want to express our deep appreciation for the City of Bloomington’s partnership and for everyone who supported this effort (and continues to support our organization). Stay tuned for more information about our move in the upcoming months.
