September 21: World Spirit Concert

With Arga Bileg and Derek Gripper

  • Buskirk-Chumley Theater (114 E. Kirkwood)
  • 3 – 5 pm
  • The 2014 Lotus Pin gets you in ($5, available in advance at Bloomingfoods locations, the Buskirk-Chumley Theater Box Office, Landlocked Music, at the Festival Store, and at the concert)

The Festival comes to a close with transcendent music from Mongolia and South Africa. Arga Bileg fuses jazz improvisation with Mongolian traditional music; Derek Gripper takes genres as diverse as African kora compositions and baroque violin and transforms them, exquisitely, on classical guitar.

Arga Bileg’s performance sponsored by IU Inner Asian and Uralic National Resource Center; Derek Gripper’s performance sponsored by IU African Studies
