“(I Am Another You) is lyrically and sonically one of the best albums of the year” – Felix Contreras, NPR

Making Movies is an American band whose critically acclaimed new album, I Am Another You, was described by  American Songwriter Magazine as “dizzying yet cohesive, like the soundtrack for some yet un-written film.”  The album is the band’s second, produced by multiple Grammy winner Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, and it features guest appearances from Asdru Sierra of Ozomatli, Alaina Moore of Tennis, and Alynda Segarra of Hurray for the Riff Raff.  The self-released album peaked at #3 on the Latin Billboard charts and #8 on the World Music Charts.

When Making Movies performs, it’s as though a spirit descends upon the room, entrancing audiences with the pulse of their Afro-Latino rhythms and psychedelic explorations. Armed with their ambitious and politically charged music, the band punches out one high-energy song after another, with theatrics and rock ‘n’ roll climaxes riding atop a bed of driving percussion.

During the concerts, front-man Enrique Chi trades his electric guitar for a folkloric Panamanian mejorana, and the Chaurand brothers hop off drums and percussion to instead supply the rhythmic pulse with a dueling zapateado huasteco, a traditional form of dance from Veracruz, Mexico.  In those moments the musical performance itself serves as a vehicle for the band’s message:  We Are All Immigrants.

Making Movies has performed alongside artists as varied as Arcade Fire, Gogol Bordello, Cold War Kids, Los Lobos, Ozomatli, Tennis, and Hurray for the Riff Raff.
