Take a deeper dive into Lotus on this guided tour! Dr. David A. McDonald, of the IU Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology, will look at the 2016 Festival lineup through a scholar’s lens, complete with vibrant audio and video.  Learn more about the artists’ homelands and cultures, explore their musical influences, and hear some of the rich stories and histories that helped shape what you’ll hear on Festival Weekend.

David A. McDonald is Associate Professor and Director of the Ethnomusicology Institute at Indiana University.  Throughout his career he has worked closely with musicians from across the globe, spanning Zimbabwe, Indonesia, Ireland, and throughout the Middle East. A Bloomington resident since 2008, McDonald is a proud supporter of the Lotus Festival!
