You should expect Lotus audience members to travel between venues, sometimes during a set.  At the quiet venues – in the churches and the Buskirk-Chumley Theater – audience members will only be allowed to enter or leave between songs, to lessen the distraction. When an audience member leaves, someone else usually takes their place. Please know, this does not mean the audience did not like your set; they are trying to see as many artists as they can in a short amount of time. Thank you for understanding. We are very excited you are here.

Downtown Bloomington is very walkable, with many restaurants, shops, and other amenities.  All Festival venues and production areas are within EASY walking distance of each other (a few blocks), including the Hospitality Suite.

Your hotel (Holiday Inn Bloomington) is a little further away.  Please see below for Artist Shuttle information — Lotus provides an on-call shuttle to help you get between your hotel and the various Festival venues.  Parking is very limited on Festival weekend, especially since Lotus also closes many downtown streets. We strongly encourage you to use the shuttle to get between the hotel and your venue(s).

If you are scheduled for a radio session or educational outreach activity during your time at Lotus, Shelley will communicate those transportation arrangements to you during your advance.

Be sure there is a Festival Badge for each member of your group.  Please pick these up at Artist Hospitality. Your badge should be worn all the time, as it is:

  • Your ticket/entry into all venues, including the ones in which you are performing.
  • Your meal ticket for lunch on Saturday (11:30am-2:30pm) and dinner on your performance nights (5:30pm – 9:30pm).
  • Your ticket to the Artist After-Parties on Friday and Saturday and for 2 free glasses of beer/wine at the parties.

If you have any questions about badges, please come see us in the Hospitality Suite at the First Christian Church.

We want you to feel well taken care of.  If you have a need, come see us! (Hospitality phone #: 812-391-1467)

Hours:   Friday, 12:00pm to Midnight and Saturday, 10:00am to Midnight.

Hours:  We will have on-call artist shuttle service from 9:30am to 3:00am on Friday and Saturday.

The shuttle service will be available to drive you between your lodgings and the festival.  We encourage ALL artists to take advantage of this service, as parking is extremely limited downtown and many streets are closed for the festival.

Call the Shuttle Captain at 812-955-8432 to arrange your rides. Please call at least an hour in advance of your required pick up. Let us know the number of persons and the amount of gear you have.

This is not the airport shuttle.  Airport Returns have been scheduled in advance; please call Shelley Qian (440-935-3604) with airport shuttle questions.

The Festival Store is located at 111 S. Walnut St. (around the corner from the Trojan Horse restaurant; there may be some scaffolding on the corner.)

All merchandise is sold through the Festival Store only, by Lotus volunteers.  No merch sales are permitted at venues.  All CDs will be sold for $16.00; other merch prices may vary. Festival sells all merchandise for 15% commission

  • Check-In: At the Festival Store after 4:00pm on Friday and Saturday.
  • Check-Out: At the Festival Store between 12:00am and 1:00am on the evening following your last performance.  Please do not check out early. Please plan to take all leftover merch with you when you leave Bloomington.

Please provide no more than 1-2 CD titles to sell.  We recommend either your latest album or a title that best reflects the music/configuration that audiences will hear at the Festival.  If you wish to mail merch to Lotus in advance of your arrival, please get in touch with us as soon as possible to make those arrangements.

Check out FIRST at the Festival Store.  Bring your check-out paperwork to the Buskirk-Chumley Theater (114 E. Kirkwood) business office on the 2nd floor to receive payment for performance fees and merchandise sold.

All merchandise payments are by CHECK; sorry, no cash requests.  If you will prefer a wire transfer for your merch payment, please contact us as soon as possible to make those arrangements; artist pays all transfer fees.

All performance payments are by check, per contract, unless a wire transfer has been approved in advance.

All artists are invited to the Lotus Artist After-Parties on Friday and Saturday nights.  Come and meet your fellow Lotus artists – our parties are a great way to relax or to network!  All attendees are required to have a Festival Badge.

Location:  FAR Center for Contemporary Arts (505 W 4th St, Bloomington) – this is within walking distance of the Festival precinct, and the artist shuttle will also be available.

Hours:  Between 11:30pm and 3:00am.  Shuttle service back to your hotel will run until 3:15am.

Snacks will be provided, and those over the age of 21 will get two free glasses of beer/wine (Festival Badge required – this is your drink ticket).  Additional drinks will be available for purchase. Bring your instruments and jam with your fellow Festival musicians.
